“I came that you may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance.” — Jesus
Understanding Life from God’s View
A Life of No Regrets
How does a person find significance in the 21st century? How can one avoid living a wasted life? Life has no meaning, no real or lasting substance, apart from Jesus Christ. But even worse than living a meaningless life is to forfeit an eternal reward.
History has left a trail of men and women who are famous for victory in battle, or famous for power in government, or just famous for being famous. Many of those people missed the purpose for which they were born. They were insignificant in spite of being famous. Consider any President of the United States, past or present. Was he a success or a failure? The Supreme Judge of the universe is the only one whose opinion counts. His opinion is the only one that will matter at the end.
What will you say to God at the end of your life, when He asks why He should allow you to spend eternity with Him in heaven? The reason most people give is this: “I try to be a good person; hopefully my good deeds will outweigh the bad ones.”

God’s Plan for You
God wants our lives to be significant, but life has no meaning apart from knowing God and Jesus Christ. “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3 NIV). The wisest king who ever lived left this advice: “get wisdom and understanding even if it costs all you have” (Proverbs 4:7). Since Jesus is the source of all wisdom and knowledge (Col 2:3), knowing Him is the most valuable thing a person can do for now and for all eternity. He is the way to significance, and the way to redeeming a lost society. Every other attempt to live life will result in a wasted and superficial life.
